Silence never goes unnoticed.
Technology that disappears for the person receiving the call, but transforms the work of those who care.

Weeks without contact.
Social care teams cannot maintain regular contact with all service users. Between home visits, there is no systematic way to know if everything is okay.

That silence is what MILAE exists to fill.
Automatic calls that fill the gap between visits, checking in regularly and alerting the team when something is wrong.
See data and documented casesHow it works
One call. One log. One alert, when needed.
Automatic call
MILAE calls with the frequency defined by the social team, adapted to each person's profile.
Confirms well-being
The call checks presence, mood and simple daily routines. Each conversation generates a summary accessible on the platform.
Absence recorded
If unanswered after several attempts, the absence is recorded and flagged as a relevant event for the team.
Immediate alert
The social team or designated contacts receive an immediate alert for intervention.
Centralized needs
The platform centralizes each person's needs, enabling the team to analyse patterns and organise intervention.
No silence goes unanswered.
Continuous presence between visits.
The MILAE system, in real time.
MILAE makes the call, when it is needed, based on each person's state and needs. It talks, understands the essentials and brings everything to the team's panel.
The care platform
Interface for social teams and municipal technicians responsible for follow-up.

What science knows about loneliness (and the study that inspired MILAE)
For years we treated loneliness as a sentimental matter. Two decades of research say otherwise: loneliness raises the risk of death, heart disease and stroke, and social isolation raises the risk of dementia. And the study that struck me most used no technology at all.

Half a million people over 65 live alone in Portugal
The 2021 Census counted 517,146 people aged 65 or over living alone. Portugal is the second oldest country in the European Union. These are the official numbers, and what they ask of anyone working in a municipality.

More technology, more loneliness? When digital literacy is ignored
Portugal is today one of the most aged countries in Europe. We live longer, but increasingly alone. Thousands of people spend entire days without regular human contact, often without anyone noticing.
