MILAE has won the Excellence in Data & AI 2026 award in the Natural Language & Conversational AI category. The awards are organised by DSPA (Data Science Portuguese Association) and GoingNext and were presented on 29 September 2026 in Lisbon, at the Vieira de Almeida auditorium.
Tiago Nunes, founder of MILAE, and Francisco Macedo, CTO, received the award on behalf of HoneCraft, the Portuguese company that builds MILAE.
A simple idea
There are people public services need to keep in touch with who use neither apps nor portals. In Portugal, 517,000 people aged 65 or over live alone (2021 Census, INE). All of them answer the phone.
MILAE calls on behalf of the municipality, the person simply talks, and when something changes the social care team is alerted and decides where to act.
It does not replace professionals. It lets them reach more people and spend their time on those who need it most.
